About DB Sport Fishing Charters

In 1986, John Gribble Sr. received his captain’s license at the age of 26. He started the guide service offering waterfowl hunts on Lake Erie and had the name “Duck Buster Charters.” In 1990, Geneva State Park Marina opened and he started offering smallmouth bass and walleye charters. The name “Duck Buster Charters” was then changed to “DB Sport Fishing Charters” just because it sounded a little funny at 5am.

At age 6, Johnny Gribble Jr began fishing with his father. He would eventually first mate for trips on Lake Erie as well as Mosquito Lake. Over the years John Sr. had Johnny first mating on multiple charter boats, learning from different captains, taking all the knowledge and techniques to one day become a great charter captain himself. At the age of 18, Johnny did just that! He became the youngest charter captain on Lake Erie.

Since then he has taken over his father’s legacy carrying DB Sport Fishing Charters into a new era making it the largest charter fleet out of Geneva State Park Marina. With an amazing team of knowledgeable captains and crew, they exceed over 100 years of combined experience, catering to families, groups of 6 and those wanting to learn what Lake Erie has to offer.
